What’s on the agenda at the 2017 iP Utility Safety Conference and ICUEE?

This year, the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville will simultaneously host two of the most anticipated utility industry events of 2017: the iP Utility Safety Conference and Expo, presented by Incident Prevention, and the International Construction and Utility Equipment Expo.

We’ve broken down these two events so attendees can plan out how to schedule their fun, engaging week around what matters most.

Learn about new trends in utility safety

So far, 2017 has been a critical year for workplace safety in utilities and construction. The following two regulatory changes in particular will set the tone for how today’s health, safety and environment (HSE) managers will build out their on-site safety programs:

Arc Flash Regulations

In brief, all arc flash labels must comply with well-known electrical safety standards, and utilities workers must comply with higher protective equipment standards. Check out “Changes to Arc Flash Standards: NFPA 70E, ASTM F18 and Other Groups Affecting Electrical Work” on Wednesday, Oct.4 at 10:00 a.m. for more information.

OSHA’s Final Rule on Walking-Working Surfaces and Fall Protection Standards

This comprehensive update covers a lot of new ground, including how these standards apply to vehicles, a mandate for ladder safety or personal fall protection systems for fixed ladders over 24 feet and more. OSHA estimates the total package will prevent more than 5,800 lost workdays due to injuries and save 29 lives every year.
